The Southern Academy student services program provides essential on-going support, guidance, and direction for all students. It is accessible and available, as needed or scheduled by students and parents. Essential services which are provided are:

  • Student assessment services

  • A developmental counseling program which includes individual, small group, and large group guidance.

  • Academic progress evaluations and related guidance

  • College-Career counseling

  • Parent-Teacher Conference Over-site

  • Crisis counseling

  • Referral services to appropriate agencies

EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, hosted by Troy University's Freshman Forum! This year's conference will be held on November 2nd from 9am-2pm on the university campus. Our theme this year is "Tackling Leadership!"   

 Registration is open NOW for all high school students, grades 9-12! The current cost per student is $30, which covers registration, lunch, and an official conference shirt. The price will go up to $40 on October 14th, so don't miss out on this great deal! Attendees will be able to hear an amazing keynote speaker, a presentation from the Troy Office of Admissions, take a campus tour, attend fun and engaging breakout sessions, and so much more!

University of Alabama:

APPLICATION NOW OPEN - The University of Alabama application is now open for students applying through 2024. Incoming first-time freshmen can apply using either the UA Undergraduate App or the Common App

University Days is a chance to experience the transformational power of The University of Alabama through a full day on our beautiful campus in Tuscaloosa. Students can learn about life on campus and get information on majors and minors, academic and student support services, admissions, scholarships and much more. 

Alabama residents interested in attending The University of Alabama may register for any of the University Days events, but they also have the exclusive opportunity to attend Sweet Home Capstone on Monday, October 23. Encourage your students to sign up for the event that best matches their schedule and preference.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR ADMISSIONS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

All information below applies to first-time, main-campus freshmen applying for the summer or fall 2024 terms. Review complete information on admission and scholarship deadlines and policies at UA’s Admissions website and UA’s Scholarships website

  • January 15 Priority Deadline: Submit an application and all supporting documents by January 15 in order to receive priority consideration for admission. Admitted students who meet the priority deadline will be considered for competitive scholarships and automatic merit scholarships.

  • After January 15: First-time, main-campus freshmen who submit an application and all supporting documents after January 15 will receive consideration for admission on a space-available basis.

  • Freshman Supplemental Scholarship Application: Applications are only available to admitted students and must be submitted by January 15.

  • Automatic Merit Scholarships: Students must be admitted and submit all relevant materials by May 1 to qualify.

Mississippi State University:

Fall Preview Days: Students and families will learn about academic programs, tour campus, and more.

Troy University:

ALL TROJAN DAY is September 23rd! Students will receive lots of great Admissions information, speak with leaders of student organizations, and explore campus. They will also receive complimentary tickets to the football game that day.

  •  Troy Tours for individual students Mondays-Friday at 10:00am and 2:00pm. I encourage all students to come visit when they can! 

Jacksonville State University:

UAB:

The Fall 2024 Application at UAB is officially open!

Students have the option to apply through the UAB Website or through the Common App. Preferential treatment is not shown to one over the other.

Additionally, UAB remains test optional this year. Students will be asked how they want their application reviewed on the application. Once submitted, this cannot be changed. Students should reach out to their UAB Admissions Counselor if they have questions about how to apply.

This Fall, UAB is offering several opportunities for your students to connect with the Blazer family both on campus and in your hometowns.

UAB Day – Saturday, October 14th – This event is open to all Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores considering UAB. Students will have the chance to meet with their prospective department as well as learn more about Financial Aid/Scholarships, Student Life, and more.

Southern Academy has Dual Enrollment contracts with Auburn University, Shelton State Community College, Troy University, University of Alabama and the University of West Alabama.

Interested students must have: 

  • Completed the 10th grade* 

  • Minimum 3.5 high school GPA 

  • Support form provided to Auburn First by a high school counselor 

*Partial 10th grade transcripts are accepted to allow students to begin taking courses the summer semester after their 10th grade year. 

 Have Questions? Virtual Information Sessions: 

Throughout the month of September, our team will host virtual info sessions for interested students, parents, and counselors on Tuesdays at noon (CST) and Thursdays at 4pm (CST). The first session will be held Tuesday, September 5th at noon (CST). Sessions will be recorded for those who cannot join and are available upon request. 

Alabama: UA Early College

The Spring 2024 semester is quickly approaching! With UA Early College, students can finish their college degree faster, saving both time and tuition costs. 

Starting Tuesday, September 26 

We'll waive the application fee!

When students Apply to UA Early College by Friday, September 29, we'll waive the $40 application fee and they'll be able to begin the FREE UAEC 200 College Readiness Course (2 free credit hours) on Tuesday, October 17. This is a 6-week course and requires just 1-2 hours of study per day, while learning the skills to excel at a major university. After completing UAEC 200, students will have earned 2 college credit hours and have the option to take online courses that align with their academic and career interests.

This is a student's last chance to be eligible to take a full-term course in the upcoming Spring 2024 semester.
